Recap time! The goal this week was looking at pushing the changes from Shape Move in to other games and seeing how they translate in motion. Taking the streamlined UI and sped up gameplay changes to character movement, this week we tried them out on Shape Rush.
“Old Shape Rush and Old Old Shape Rush“
Some faster feet, some cleaner UI and bing, bang, boom! We have a more enjoyable Shape Rush experience. One of the biggest issues we faced with Shape Rush was implementation of mechanics seen in games like Shape Move and Shape Zone.
For example, the shooting mechanic designed to stun enemies, does it fit the more platform-y nature of Shape Rush. That and jumping as well since the original didn’t have the ability to jump. In the end we decided to keep the jump and get rid of the shooting to keep the movement going.

We will continue to roll out these changes and look forward to updating you more next week. We plan to add new platform types to keep the game flowing and engaging.
