It’s been another crazy year and as we enter the last couple of hours to midnight we reflect back on the year that was and celebrate some of our very best from this amazing community, so without further ado here are this years Down Tilt Award Winners. Players Twitter handles will be at the bottom of the post.

The Most Improved Player Award - Winner: PRD | Wingy

What a year for Wingy it has been, the former Ganondorf players has risen through the ranks over the past year and a bit but 2021 was really their year. Wingy multiple tournaments, taking wins from players they usually struggled against as well as just their natural leadership stepping into the TO role. Wingy has only just shown the North Tas scene what they are capable of and with TFCVS around the corner who knows what is to come.

Best Player Match Up Award - Winner: PRD | Jai2go vs PRD | Wingy

These two representatives of team Pride played each other a whopping 31 times over the 2021 seasons. Vastly more than anyone else, but when the match was on you knew you were in for a treat. Never has a player match up in Down Tilt history been so volatile as these two heavy weights of the scene. One week it could be all Jai2go then next all Wingy. No matter what it was always a hype set to watch. Just check it out here:

Commentator of the Year - Winner: PRD | Gerald

It’s not what just happens on the screen that can be hype but the voices behind the microphone showcasing these hype moments to our viewers. And there is something so satisfying about a PRD | Gerald ”OH SHIT!” that makes you know you are in for a ride. Gerald has been an amazing community member and their work behind the mic has really made the stream stand out as it has been a very important part of our scene to get right. Community Member of the Year - Winner: DT | MaxKiNG

Need we say any more about the man who brings it all together every Thursday. Max has been the constant of North Tas FGC and Smash and has been the go-to guy for anything you need. From running events 3 times a week, uploading data to Aussmash, organising the Braackets and more Max is always in the background doing something to help the scene and with that, he was the clear winner for this category. Thank you for everything you do Max.

Most Clippable Player - Winner: PRD | Mr. President

What a year it has been for the RNG king of the North Tas scene. From the famous DT | Ja-Nox vs Pres set to the everlasting BS of Mr. Saturn’s, bombs and more. We have seen them get away with too much and we love it. We could fill the Down Tilt twitter with Jeff clips and the scene feels the same. And here it is, the big award as voted by the community, it was a very clear winner and one we believe is well justified, we have talked about this player before and it’s not only their commitment in-game but also their commitment out of the game and how they support and build up others. So we are happy to announce that his years Down Tilt Community Voted Player of the Year is…

“Consistency in play, growth within the scene and overall someone who best represents us” is the perfect statement for Wingy. Congratulations to Wingy and all the other players. Thank you for an amazing year and we look forward to an even more amazing 2022.

And whilst the names here do represent who the community thinks represents these categories, we are nothing without every single member who rocks up, participates in the discord, watches via the streams and more. So to everyone who helped us this year we are so eternally grateful. Thank you.
