It’s that time again, Down Tilt and Tuesday Night Fights present the Tekken 7 Season 2 Power Rankings. It’s always an exciting time to be announcing rankings so let’s meet the players who placed this season:
1. Impulse
Making his breakout this season, Impulse secures the #1 spot on the PR! Some very dominant tournament wins, and the Tekken devs giving Lars some love, have propelled him into the top spot. Having the most tournament wins and best head to head matchups, the only person close to challenging Impulse is our #2 this season.
2. Repeater
The ever solid rock of the Launceston Tekken scene, Repeater comes away with the #2 spot this season. He has dropped a couple of sets here and there to players other than the #1, but those times are very rare and usually when he is experimenting away from his main character Hwoarang. Repeater continues to be a dominant force this season with plenty of tournament wins under his belt as well.
3. UG | Gerald
Despite a dip in mid season attendance, Gerald’s dominant results have made it impossible to underestimate him. Great head to head results over the rest of the scene, bar the top 2, and fantastic placings at all his attended tournaments have shown that despite his brief hiatus Gerald has not lost his footing and has boxed out the competition to take the third place!
4. Ren
Maintaining her 4th spot on the rankings this season, Ren proves to be the gatekeeper to the upper echelon of the Launceston Tekken scene. A mid season switch to Kunimitsu has shown her skills of adapting and picking up new characters is as strong as ever. Ren adds this to her Zafina to make a combination of deadly characters.
5. Oridian
Oridian burst into the early part of the season with some great results and good matchups, but the gap has seemed to close between her and others on the rankings. Her lack of attendance during the mid and later parts of the season sees her drop down a few spots, but that does not mean she is less of a force to be reckoned with!
6. DT | MaxKiNG
Our resident TO retains his 6th place this season. Some decent results and reasonably close head to heads with a large part of the rankings this season has helped him maintain this position. He seems just short of reaching higher on the PR, and will really need to step up his game to climb the rankings!
7. UG | Jai2go
Last season Honorable mention, but this season Jai2go makes his mark on the Launceston Tekken scene and breaks onto the PR. The strong Heihachi play from him has seen him take some of the higher ranked players to a lot of close games, and even taking sets off of players ranked above him. Jai2go can only climb higher from here!
8. George
Rounding out the Rankings at #8, George bursts onto the ladder this season with a couple of fantastic tournament runs, culminating in some 4th place finishes. She has shown she has the potential to hang with a large portion of the PR, and with some more work can definitely climb up the rankings for next season!
