“Another amazing PR piece by UG | Jai2go”
It’s that time again, after a crazy year let’s take time to celebrate those who played their hearts out and took home a spot on the North Tas Smash Ultimate Power Rankings for season six!
1. DT | Trucks (Lucina, Pokemon Trainer, Terry, Samus)
This season Trucks has reclaimed his number 1 spot on the power rankings after quite a time away from it. Trucks has historically been the man to beat in Launceston and has made it a point to be that again, and with lots of style! Along with his new Down Tilt sponsorship and a slew of characters under his belt, what will be able to stop him going into 2021?
2. UG | Jai2go (Wii Fit Trainer, Lucina)
Jai2go maintains his top 2 presence on the PR this season. His high attendance and incredible consistency have proven that he is a force to be reckoned with in the Launceston Smash Scene.
3. Gerald (Chrom)
This season, much like the last, Gerald has had scarce appearances at events but when he does show up he has shown he still has what it takes to win a tournament over Launceston’s best. Gerald has fantastic matchups and wins which have improved his rank from last season.
4. Cohen (Mario)
Despite dropping down the PR from 1st to 4th, Cohen is still an incredibly strong player in Launceston. Only his attendance and a few slightly losing matchups to other members of the top 4 have marred his appearance on this season's PR. After a much needed break it seems he is ready to take Launceston by storm in 2021!
5. Wingy (Bowser)
The only other player to win a tournament outside of the top 4, Wingy has secured the 5th place spot on the PR this season! Her ever scary Bowser has proven her to be a player to beat as she has a great spread of matchups and placings only topped off by her tournament win after double eliminating this season's number 1 player! 2021 is looking incredibly promising for Wingy!
6. Mr President (Daisy, Hero, Jigglypuff)
Mr President has shown this season that he can take it to the scenes best players. The only person outside of the top 4 to have a set win over Cohen, last seasons number 1 player, and has a fantastic record over his contenders on the PR. Next season Mr President is hoping to make an impact in the Launceston Smash Scene!
7. LargeMarge (Cloud)
Despite dropping down a couple of placings on the PR this season, LargeMarge has shown that they are still an incredibly consistent player in Launceston, able to maintain great placings and almost impeccable matchups against all the players ranked below them during the regular season. LargeMarge will definitely be looking to reclaim their spot on the PR at the very least, possibly even break their limits!
8. MaxKiNG (Palutena)
Our resident TO seems to be our resident Gatekeeper in Launceston. Reclaiming his 8th spot on the PR this season, he seems to be the man to beat if you want to be recognised among Launceston’s best. A return to more Palutena play has definitely seen a lot more close losses out of him this season against players that usually would have had his number.
Honourable Mentions
Gandlaf (Link, Roy)
Gandlaf has shown a lot of improvement this season and improved a few of his matchups from the last one. If this trend continues Gandlaf could secure himself a spot on the PR next season
Sadlife (Ike)
Sadlife is Launceston’s newest regular player and has already shown that he has the potential to take it to some of the scenes best. A lot of potential has been shown from him and lots of the scene are excited for him to improve and make his place among the PR players.
