Season 2 is done and dusted here up north at what a great three months it has been. From players growing in their playstyles to all new mains and mixing it up, we have seen such a variety of players and an increase in interest amongst the scene and game.
Firstly, we want to thank all those who participated and came to our events, it was great to see returning faces as well as engaged new players who want to know more. We can’t wait to see where we can go from here.
But for now, here it is. Congratulations to all players who achieved a spot on the list, this season a lot was in the air and it came down to some tight end of season results. As for those vying for a spot. It was close and you aren’t far from hitting that target so keep persisting and we may see some all new faces next time.
*Please note that win rates include pools matches which allow flexibility in play style before reaching top 8 bracket. Bracket matches and head to head have been main considerations by the panel when deciding placings.
Big shout out to Cap Supreme who this season wanted to take on the challenge of creating the art
1. Trucks - Best Placing: 1st, Win Rate: 90%, Best Matchup: 13 - 0, Noticeable Wins: N/A
”Trucks can be summed up in one phrase, “Patch 3.1”. With the arrival of changes to Ken and Ryu we saw Trucks move back to the character he played at launch and in part in S4 with Ryu. Trucks has taken naturally to Ken and his string of wins and tournament victories is a testament to his dominance in the scene.”
2. Chins - Best Placing: 1st, Win Rate: 82%, Best Match Up: 7 - 0, Noticeable Wins: Trucks
“Despite minimal attendance, retains his top spot with great placings and character variety. Despite its perceived strength, Piranha Plant has been a solid pick for him this season, with its unorthodox play style confusing the scene. Hopefully with more results he can aim for the top spot.”
3. Cap Supreme - Best Placing: 1st, Win Rate: 66%, Best Match Up: 11 - 2, Noticeable Wins: Trucks and Chins
“The cap maintains his strong presence amongst the player base in the North. This season lead by his Wii Fit and backed up alongside by his Marth. Cap has once again shown his versatility and strength in overcoming a variety of situations presented before him. He will be aiming for that top spot in season three.”
4. Gerald- Best Placing: 1st, Win Rate: 72%, Best Match Up: 12 - 0, Noticeable Wins: Trucks, Cap and Chins
“Gerald performs consistently again this season, with even a tournament win earning him a higher position. His Incineroar continues to grow in strength and complexity, with a powerful Ganondorf pick in the back. With more placements similar to his best this season, he can make the top spots in the next.”
5. WambySock - Best Placing: 2nd, Win Rate: 74%, Best Match Up: 4 - 0, Noticeable Wins: Gerald and Cap Supreme
“Despite not showing up to as many tournaments this season, Wamby has still shown what a dominant force he can be when he arrives. With his wide range of characters lead by his explosive Pac-Man, Wamby will be aiming for that top three spot.”
6. Snoop - Best Placing: 2nd, Win Rate: 68%, Best Match Up: 9 - 0, Noticeable Wins: Chins, Cap Supreme and Gerald
“Snoop has finally settled into a niche within the scene, with his Pokemon Trainer pick late into the season. While low attendance inhibited his reach for the top spots, some high level wins and placements earn him a higher position than last season. If he appears more often next season, he could surely reach the higher spots.”
7. Kharn - Best Placing: 3rd, Win Rate: 65%, Best Match Up: 6 - 3, Noticeable Wins: N/A
“Another player who hasn’t really been to many events but when he did show off his talent with his Greninja and ROB it was always a set worth watching. Kharn’s wealth of knowledge in fighting games once again shines through as his ability to adapt and read opponents has kept in him the competitive loop.”
8. RNGeoff - Best Placing: 2nd, Win Rate: 55%, Best Match Up: 11 - 2, Noticeable Wins: Wamby, Snoop and Kharn
“RNGeoff, the man of many names, brings another consistent performance to the table this season. Over the course of the season he strengthened his character roster, though ultimately was unable to make any outstanding wins compared to his peers causing him to drop spots. If he can perform well next season with a few high placements he will be able to reclaim his higher placing.”
9. LargeMarge - Best Placing: 4th, Win Rate: 44%, Best Match Up: 11 - 0, Noticeable Wins: Cap Supreme and RNGeoff
“What a season Marge has had, going from strength to strength and causing some incredible bracket upsets. Marge has solidified his faith in his Cloud and continues to learn and grow as well as take on the task of regularly taking games and even sets against players he once struggled against. If his practice continues, we expect to see some great movement from him.”
10. MaxKiNG - Best Placing: 3rd, Win Rate: 39%, Best Match Up: 12 - 1, Noticeable Wins: RNGeoff and LargeMarge
“Our reigning TO supreme comes in at a solid 10th ranking this season. He stands strong as a competitor who consistently made top 8 with some great pools performances to make it through. Guided by his ever trustworthy Palutena, MaxKiNG has shown what a strong dedication can do.”
Please note the KRAW theory names, thanks LargeMarge
