Born from a love of the competitive Smash scene in Launceston and fuelled by a drive to give the local scene the competition it deserves, Down Tilt is the brain child of company founder Chris Baron and local tournament organiser Max Connell.
Local players MaxKiNG, Gand Laf, Cap Supreme and Gerald compete in Dragonball FIghterZ.
Chris' history in the competitive scene comes from his early involvement in the Super Smash Bros Brawl scene that was run out of the local high school hall as well as an internet cafe. Taking some time off Chris eventually met Max at a new event run at the university and after seeing how it was run and seeing the player demand for more events outside of the uni calendar decided to team up and create Smash at GUF here in Launceston.
From there in 2015, Smash at GUF has been the premiere fighting game community in Launceston. Expanding into other games as well such as Melee, Brawl, SFV and most recently Dragonball FighterZ.
It's now 2018 and the community is still meeting every Thursday at GUF in Launceston. We have been through many trials such as players coming and going, new venue shifts, new owners taking over GUF and more. But we are here and we intend to stay as we get closer to the next generation of Smash with Ultimate due out this December.
TO and player MaxKiNG getting keen for Smash Ultimate due to arrive 7th of December 2018.
